Billing & Insurance FAQs

Understanding your payment and coverage options.

We want your care experience to be clear and transparent from start to finish. Below are answers to common questions about billing, insurance, and payment options. If you don’t see your specific question, our team is happy to help you navigate your options.

Questions & Answers:

1. Do you take insurance?
We are considered out-of-network with all commercial insurance companies, including Medicaid. While we do not directly bill your insurance, we can provide you with a superbill that you may submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement, based on their discretion.
We include your insurance information when ordering laboratory and imaging tests, though many functional medicine labs are out-of-network and may require out-of-pocket payment.
Our relationship is with you, not your insurance company. We value the time spent with each patient and believe your insurance coverage should not dictate your care. We can provide diagnostic and procedural codes so you can check your benefits in advance.
2. Can I use Medicare?
We have “Opted-Out” of Medicare. Patients with this coverage must sign a private contract with us and cannot submit visits for reimbursement. However, we can order labs, imaging, prescriptions, and specialty referrals that Medicare may cover, if accepted by the provider of the service.
For Medicare Advantage Plan/HMO members, you will need a PCP within your network; in these cases, we are not authorized to order tests or make referrals.
4. Do you take CareCredit?
We do not accept CareCredit at this time.
3. Can I use HSA or FSA for my care?
In most cases, yes. HSA and FSA funds can be used for office and telemedicine visits, tests, and supplements. Visits may also be covered by your insurance provider as out-of-network care. We provide superbills with all required codes and information.
5. Are there additional fees for services provided outside of my appointment?
Yes. Certain services outside your scheduled appointment may incur separate fees, such as complex portal communications, referral letters, letters of medical necessity, workplace accommodation/disability forms, and prior authorizations. Some of these services may be included if you choose a Care Plan Package.
